Homage to Napatree

beloved napatree,

you have been my friend
since my mother walked your shoreline
with me in her belly...

upon your ever-changing terrain

I have walked
and played
napped and noshed
celebrated and grieved
dreamed and visioned
star gazed
floated atop your azure depths
unlocked mysteries of the cosmos
kissed and been kissed
loved and been loved
ridden your salty swells
lost myself in the wonder of it all

I have created
myriad reflections of beauty
in your generous landscapes

and walked upon you
with my own beloved child resting quietly in my belly…

you always welcome me
with open arms;

no matter
your mood
or temperature...

my grand muse;

your promise
of recalibrating my psyche;

with your waves
your dunes
your swaying grasses
your sun and moon
your whispers in the wind
your vast, starry skies
your tender treasures scattered along your soft, sandy edges;
the benevolent arc of your sacred, earthen, watery spine…

today I honor you;
my heart aglow with deepest gratitude...
